WEEKEND PREVIEW: 5/6 – 5/8

Series Recap

The Rebels won both games at home last weekend to give them a 2 – 0 lead in the division finals against the Johnstown Tomahawks. The Rebels took the first game 5 – 2 and then the second game 4 – 3 on a goal by Eric Carreras with 3:41 into overtime. Games three and four will be played at the Cambria County War Memorial on Friday, May 6 and Saturday, May 7 (if necessary). Both games will begin at 7:30pm. Should a fifth game be needed, it would be played on Sunday, May 8 at 6:00pm at the IceWorks Skating Complex. The Rebels and Tomahawks split the regular season series against each other in Johnstown with four wins apiece.

Johnstown Overview

The Tomahawks are led by Casey Linkenheld who has five points in the playoffs (three goals and two assists). Anthony Parrucci (who is tied with Linkenheld with most playoff goals with three) has four points along with Niko Coffman, Filips Buncis and Drew Doyon. This series the Hawks have received balanced production from four players with each having four points: Parrucci (two goals), Coffman (two assists), Buncis (two assists) and Zak Galambos (two assists). The Tomahawks are 1 – 4 on the power play. Andrew Lindgren has played in all five games in the playoffs and has an overall 3 – 2 record. Rebels Overview

Dean Balsamo and Andrew Bellant lead the Rebels in playoff scoring with seven points respectively. Balsamo has two goals and five assists while Bellant has five goals and two assists. This series Balsamo has the most points with four (one goal and three assists) while Bellant leads the team with three goals. There are six players who each have two points: Kristofers Bindulis (goal and assist), Drew Blackmun (goal and assist), Carreras (two goals), Ryan Cusin (goal and assist), Michael Merulla (two assists) and Frank Spellman (two assists). The Rebels are 0 – 5 on the power play. Darion Hanson has played all five playoff games (all wins). This series he as a 2.50 goals against average and a .878 save percentage.

Fifth Game and Semi-Finals

A deciding game (if necessary) will be played on Sunday, May 8 at 6:00pm at the IceWorks Skating Complex. The winner of this series will move onto the semi-finals of the Robertson Cup playoffs which will begin on Thursday, May 12 in Edina, Minnesota.
