Rebels playing two at Revolution Ice Centre
The Rebels will be away this weekend playing two games against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights at the Revolution Ice Centre in Pittston, PA. The two teams played each other twice last week splitting the games. During the first game the Rebels were up 2 – 1 with approximately 2:30 left in the game when the Knights scored two goals in forty seconds to ultimately win 5 – 2 (two empty net goals were scored). The second game the Rebels overcame a 3 – 2 deficit only to hang on for a 7 – 5 win.
Both games have been evenly matched. If you subtract the three empty net goals (two for the Knights and one for the Rebels), each team has scored eight goals. The Rebels are one for four on the power play while the Knights are one for three. During the two games the Knights were led by Joseph Campolieto (four points – 1 goal and 3 assists), Curtis Carlson (four points – 2 goals and 2 assists) and Matt Kidney (4 points – 1 goal and 3 assists). Sam Antontisch also had two goals. The goaltending tandem of Grant Valentine and Colt Hanks had 4.0 goals against average and a .84 save percentage.
The Rebels were lead by defenseman Gvido Jansons who had four points (2 goals and 2 assists). Fellow blue liner Ryan Solomon had three points (1 goal and 2 assists). Mareks Mitens and Jack Leavy combined for a 4.0 goals against average and .849 save percentage.
The Knights are currently in fourth place in the East Division with a 5 – 6 record (10 points). The team is lead by Campolieto who has eleven points (2 goals and 9 assists). Kidney has ten points (3 goals and 7 assists) while Carlson has nine points (3 goals and 6 assists). Vince Marino leads the team in goals with five. Rookie Reed Robinson has the team’s best +/- with a +5. Fellow rookie Colt Hanks is ranked 14th among league netminders with a 3 – 2 record, 2.32 goals against average and .931 save percentage. He also has one shutout. The Knights are 20th in the league on the power play with a 12.8% conversion. However, they are sixth in the league on the penalty kill with a 84.6%.
