Rebels and Susan G. Komen Partner to Paint the Rink Pink

The Philadelphia Rebels will be hosting their third annual ‘Paint the Rink Pink’ weekend October 29th and 30th. The team will be auctioning off its specially-designed, game-worn jerseys to support Susan G. Komen of Philadelphia.

“Breast cancer has personally affected many of us in the Rebels organization” stated team president Ken Dennis. “Studies indicate that one in eight women will be diagnosed with a form of breast cancer in their lifetime. Susan G. Komen of Philadelphia has a proven track record of providing both the educational information and emotional support many women seek following their diagnosis. We are proud to be giving back to the community as best we can by working with a local, trusted partner like Susan G. Komen of Philadelphia,” concluded Dennis.

Prior to the Rebels’ October 30 home game against the Johnstown Tomahawks, fans and the team’s family members will be given an opportunity to bid on the players’ jerseys at the Class of 1923 Arena at the University of Pennsylvania.

“Susan G. Komen Philadelphia is proud to partner with the Philadelphia Rebels during its ‘Paint the Rink Pink’ games to close out National Breast Cancer Awareness Month!”, said Elaine Grobman, Komen Philadelphia’s CEO, “we are thankful to the ownership, staff, coaches and players for choosing Susan G. Komen Philadelphia and supporting our mission to lower breast cancer deaths by 50% nationally by 2026 – and, here in our service area, to lower late stage breast cancer diagnoses by 10% over the next five years.  As well, we thank the team for celebrating our survivors through the ceremonial puck drops before each game.  We wish the team well during its 2017-2018 season and look forward to working with them in the future!”
