Stanley makes D1 NCAA commitment to Niagara University

The Philadelphia Rebels, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that forward Brandon Stanley has committed to play NCAA Division 1 Ice Hockey for Niagara University. The Purple Eagles are members of Atlantic Hockey. His commitment begins in the fall of 2018.

Stanley, 20, was fifth on the team with thirty-two points (18 goals and 14 assists) during the regular season. He led the team with nine points (5 goals and 4 assists) in eight playoff games. He also led the team with five post-season goals.

The 6’1”, 200 lb. native of Sioux Lookout, ON also was a member of the NAHL’s Top Prospect Tournament this past February.

“I’m really excited to sign with Niagara University and move on to play hockey at the next level” stated Stanley. “I am extremely thankful to my parents and all of my coaches and teammates who have helped me get to where I am going” concluded Stanley.

“Brandon is a big, strong forward who can really skate” said Rebels head coach Joe Coombs. “With more maturity and consistency, he should have the opportunity to play past college. Stan is a great teammate who is very fun to be around. We wish him nothing but the best in the future” concluded Coombs.

Niagara University is located in Niagara Falls, NY. The Purple Eagles are coached by Jason Lammers. They had an 11-22-3 record this past season.

Rebels’ Forward Gianluca Esteves makes D1 NCAA commitment to Michigan State

The Aston Rebels, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that forward Gianluca Esteves has committed to play NCAA Division 1 Ice Hockey for Michigan State University. The Spartans play in the Big Ten conference. His commitment begins in the fall of 2017.

Esteves, 20, was fourth on the team in total points for this past season with 45 (17 goals and 28 assists). The Winnipeg, MB native led the Rebels in total points in the recently concluded Robertson Cup playoffs with nine (5 goals and 4 assists). He also was voted to the All Robertson Cup tournament team. He was named honorable mentioned for November’s NAHL forward of the month.

“I’m really excited to sign with MSU and move on to play hockey at the next level” stated Esteves. “I am extremely thankful to my parents and all of my coaches and teammates who have helped me get to where I am going. I would especially like to thank Coach Coombs and the Rebels organization” concluded Esteves.

“G was a great player for us all year” stated Rebels head coach Joe Coombs. “He got better as the year went along and certainly played his most consistent hockey when it mattered most. State got a good player that will only get better as he grows” concluded Coombs.

Michigan State University is located in East Lansing, MI. The Spartans had a 7-24-4 record this past season.
