Jamestown, NY – The Jamestown Rebels, proud members of the North American Hockey League, are pleased to announce the signing of forward Burke Simpson to a 2020-2021 tender.
Simpson, a 5’11, 150-pound native of Mequon, IL, spent the 2019-20 campaign playing north of the border for the Nipawin Hawks of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL). There, he registered 12 goals and 6 assists, good for 18 points, in 41 regular season games. He also produced at a point-per-game clip in the post-season, recording four assists in four playoff contents.
Prior to his time in Nipawin, Simpson was a member of the Milwaukee Jr. Admirals program, playing in the Tier 1 Elite Hockey League (T1EHL) at the Bantam, U15, U16 and U18 levels. According to eliteprospects.com, across his time at the Midget levels in the T1EHL, the left-shot forward amassed 63 points (24 goals, 39 assists) in 85 games played.
“Burke’s work ethic and willingness to get better is what drew us to him,” said Rebels Head Coach/General Manager Joe Coombs. “We felt that with a year of junior already under his belt, he can step in and add much important leadership and character to our lineup next year. We expect him to play a huge part.”
