The North American Hockey League announce today its Divisional Stars of the Week for weekending December 18 and Rebels’ goalie Jack Leavy was named the East Division’s second star of the week while his partner Mareks Mitens was named honorable mention.
Leavy turned aside 25 of the 26 shots he faced in last night’s 2 – 1 win over New Jersey. Leavy, a Birmingham, MI native has played in seven games this season and he has a 5-1-1 record with a 2.41 goals against average and a .909 save percentage with one shutout.
Mitens, who left yesterday to play for his native country Latvia in next weeks IIHF junior championship, had a 1 – 1 record over the weekend. He had a 1.00 goals against average and a .959 save percentage. He recorded his league-leading eighth shutout of the season on Friday night.
