Rebels forward Hamstad makes NCAA D1 commitment to Minnesota State University

The Jamestown Rebels (formerly the Philadelphia Rebels), proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that forward Chase Hamstad has committed to play NCAA Division I Ice Hockey for the Minnesota State University Mavericks, who play in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA). His commitment begins in September, 2020.

Hamstad, 18, was tendered by the Rebels back in November. He joined the team in March after finishing his high school career at White Bear Lake in White Bear Lake, MN. The Hugo, MN native had four points (2 goals and 2 assists) in ten regular season games and one point (assist) in four post-season games with the Rebels.

Hamstad was selected in the ninth round (137 overall) by the Cedar Rapids Roughriders in Phase II of the United States Hockey League draft back in May. He is currently on the Roughriders 30-man roster.

“I am honored to announce my commitment to play college hockey for Minnesota State University” stated Hamstad. “I would like to thank my coaches and family for their support along the way” concluded Hamstad.

“I’m happy for Chase” said Rebels Head Coach Joe Coombs. “He worked very hard for us when he was here. He has the tools, work ethic and drive to be a dominating player” stated Coombs.

The Mavericks, who represent Minnesota State University-Mankato, is located in Mankato, MN. The Mavericks had an overall record of 29-10-1 last season which included a regular season WCHA conference championship.
