The Philadelphia Rebels, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that team captain Ryan Patrick has committed to play NCAA Division III Ice Hockey for the Stevenson University Mustangs, who play in the Eastern College Athletic Conference – West (ECAC – West). His commitment begins in the fall of September 2018.
Patrick, 21, was second on the team during the regular season with forty-eight points (22 goals and 26 assists) in fifty-nine games played. The 5’8”, 178 lb. forward was voted the team’s 2017-18 Most Valuable Player. Patrick also was a participant in the NAHL’s Top Prospects Tournament back in February in which he had one point (an assist) in two games.
The Morgantown, WV native Patrick is third on the Rebels all-time point list with eighty (32 goals and 48 assists). He is tied for second on all-time games played with the franchise with 118.
“I’m honored and excited to have the opportunity to play college hockey at Stevenson University for the next four years” stated Patrick. “It’s an exciting time for my family and me. I would like to thank my family, coaches and friends for supporting me in my hockey endeavors” concluded Patrick.
“I was very fortunate to have had the opportunity to coach Rypat” said Rebels head coach Joe Coombs. “He was a great captain and teammate. He will be a success in life no matter what he chooses. Dawes is getting an outstanding hockey player and person” stated Coombs.
Coached by Dominick Dawes, Stevenson University is located in Owings Mills, MD (Baltimore suburb). During their second season of play, the Mustangs finished with an overall 11-8-7 record.
