Jamestown, NY – The Jamestown Rebels, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that Nick Stuckless has committed to the Skidmore College, effective Fall 2019. Stuckless becomes the sixth player to commit this season for the Rebels.
Stuckless, 21, is in his last year of junior hockey and is surely making it one for the books. He is currently sixth on the team in scoring with 29 points (11g-18a). This is by far the most productive season Nick has had since entering the NAHL and there are still playoff games to be played. The Orangeville, ON native will be staying in the Empire State as he takes his talents nearly six hours East to play at the NCAA Division III level. The Thoroughbreds are a member of the New England Hockey Conference (NEHC). Skidmore College has had 9 National Championships, 203 NCAA DIII All-Americans, 83 Conference Championships, and 21 COSIDA Academic All-Americans. They finished sixth in their conference this past season and unfortunately lost to Babson College, 2-1, in the NEHC Quarterfinals. Closing their season with a record of 13-10-3.
The 6’1” 183lb. right-handed center was drafted #159 overall in the 2017 USHL Entry Draft by the Muskegon Lumberjacks. Prior to that, he was drafted #123 overall by the London Knights in the OHL Priority Selection. He has played in 105 OJHL games totaling for 69 points (30g-39a). He then came to the NAHL where he played 48 games in 2016-17 for the Amarillo Bulls. He played five games for them this season before being acquired by the Rebels. Stuckless has played in 105 NAHL games combining for 48 points (18g-30a). This is his first time reaching the post-season in his junior hockey career.
When asked about his commitment to play college hockey for the Thoroughbreds next season Stuckless stated, “Just from visiting there and building a relationship with the coaching staff, I feel like I’m really wanted there. It just feels like the perfect fit for my on ice and off ice goals.” When looking back on his junior career Stuckless had this to say, “My junior career has been a long one with lots of memories along the way. Couldn’t have asked for a better last year with these guys here in Jamestown.” Stuckless also added “I’m excited for this playoff push and I’m excited for what lies ahead.”
When asked about his commitment Assistant Coach Josh Brown stated, “We are very proud of Stuckless and everything that he has accomplished along the way. We look forward to seeing his game develop at the collegiate level.”
