Mitens and McMahan Recognized as Part of NAHL Weekly Divisional HonorsThe North American Hockey League’s Divisional Stars of the Week were announced today for weekending September 25 and Rebels goaltender Markes Mitens was named the East Division’s second star of the week while forward Shane McMahan was honorable mention. Both players joined the team right before the NAHL Showcase.

Mitens, a native of Ventspids Latvia, recorded two shutouts during the Showcase. The first one was a 4 – 0 win over Janesville where he stopped all 29 shots. The second shutout was 3 – 0 victory over Wichita Falls where he turned aside all 28 shots. Overall, Mitens had a 2 – 1 record with a 1.74 goals against average and a .942 save percentage.

McMahan, the Lakewood, CO native, had three goals during the showcase including the game winning goal in overtime against the Minnesota Magicians. He scored the team’s first goal just forty nine seconds into the game against Bismarck. He then scored the team’s first goal against the Magicians and then ultimately delivering the game winner in game three of the showcase.

The North American Hockey League’s Easton Hockey Divisional Stars of the Week is a weekly feature during the 2016-17 regular season that honors the top performing players in each of the four NAHL divisions.
