The Rebels are pleased to announce that forward Dom Garcia has committed to play NCAA Division 1 Ice Hockey for the Air Force Falcons, who represent the United States Air Force Academy. The Falcons play in the Atlantic Hockey Conference (AHC). His commitment begins in the fall of 2017.
Garcia, 19, had three points (one goal and two assists) in eight playoff games. He led the team with a +10 +/- ratio. In 49 games during the regular season, he had 27 points (14 goals and 13 assists). The 5’11”, 192 lb Las Vegas, NV native has an untiring work ethic. In fact, he won two of the Rebels yearly awards at the conclusion of the regular season: Most Improved Player and Hardest Working Player. He was named Honorable Mentioned for forward of the month for the month of March, and he also was named the East Division Star of the Week for week ending March 20 where he scored three goals in two games.
“I am blessed to soon be able to attend a school like the Air Force Academy” stated Garcia. “I cannot thank my coaches, teammates and family enough for their continued support” concluded Garcia.
“I could not be happier or more proud of Dom” stated Rebels Head Coach Joe Coombs. “He had a terrific year and just got better and better. With the discipline that Dom lives his life, he is a great fit for the Air force. I could not be happier to coach him and have him in my life. He makes my life easier with his leadership skills” stated Coombs.
The Falcons finished with an overall record of 18-12-5 record this past season and finished second in the division.
