The North American Hockey League announced today its Division Stars of the Week for weekending October 2nd and Rebels forward Andrew Bellant was selected as the East Division star of the week while goaltender Mareks Mitens was named honorable mentioned.
The Linden, MI native had a big weekend against the Northeast Generals. He had a total of nine points (four goals and five assists) in two games. He also was +5 on the weekend. During the Rebels eight games this season, Bellant has 13 points. “This is well deserved for Andrew this week” stated Rebels head coach Joe Coombs. “He has played very well since his return to the team. He is highly intense player with a good skill and terrific speed. We expect him to lead us both on and off the ice. Some NCAA Division I program will be happy to get this young man,” concluded Coombs.
Mitens was in the net for both Rebels wins. He had .50 goals against average (shutout on Friday night) and a .975 save percentage. It was the second week in a row that Mitens received league honors.
